Mountain View, Calif. The City of Mountain View is pleased to announce its 2023 Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy, which will get underway in September 2023. This free, 10-week-long program is designed to engage and empower Spanish-speaking residents who are interested in becoming more involved in their local government and community. Applications for the Academy are now being accepted.

This program is open to all Spanish-speaking residents of Mountain View who are interested in learning about city services, the budget process, volunteer opportunities, and ways to get involved in local decision-making. The Academy also prepares individuals to serve on City Council advisory bodies and committees.

"The Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy is an opportunity for us to engage with our Spanish-speaking community and ensure that they have the tools and resources they need to be active and engaged residents," said Mayor Alison Hicks. "We are excited to offer this program and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our community."

Each session is led by staff from City departments and includes information on each department’s core service function, major activities, programs and project overview. The program also features interactive exercises and group discussion.
