Materials
For residential properties, fences or masonry walls are typically constructed of wood, brick, concrete masonry units (CMU) with stucco, or rock. Fence materials not found within a residential neighborhood are discouraged, such as chain link or corrugated metal.
For commercial and industrial properties, fence materials should be of commercial-grade, such as CMU with stucco, brick, or metal. No residential fence materials should be used on a commercial or industrial property.
Height
All fences and walls are measured from adjacent grade (i.e. ground) to the top of the fence, inclusive of decorative elements such as lattice or posts.
Location of Fencing/Walls
Be mindful that a fence/wall location does not necessarily represent a property line as a land survey is not required to install one.
No fences/walls are permitted within the public right-of-way without authorization by the Public Works Department.
