As the rain slows down, the City of Mountain View will continue with the Arbor Day Celebration as scheduled on Saturday, March 11 from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Pioneer Park. The Arbor Day festivities serve to encourage community members in respecting the planting, upkeep and preservation of trees in Mountain View.

At 9:30 a.m., the celebration kicks off with the Mayoral proclamation, tree planting and light reception. At 10 a.m. attendees are invited to participate in interactive booths, enjoy live music, and become a “certified” Arbor Day Tree Guardian. Vendors include the City of Mountain View’s Sustainability Division and Public Library, West Coast Arborists, GreenSpacesMV, Beekeepers Guild, Wildlife Education Rehabilitation Center and more!

There is still time to sign up for a free tree in celebration of Arbor Day. The City will make Arbor Day trees available to Mountain View residents for planting on their property. Residents agree to plant and maintain the tree on their property. Residents who wish to participate may fill out the application online at www.MountainView.gov/ArborDay by Monday, March 13 at 5 p.m. The planting event is part of the City’s forestry restoration efforts and the celebration of the State of California’s Arbor Day. The City will deliver the tree of choice to eligible residents in late April or early May. Only one tree per address.
