The City of Mountain View is aware that more than one thousand Mountain View residents are without power as today’s storm brought heavy rain and strong winds to the Bay Area. As of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, there are approximately 1,370 PG&E meters in Mountain View without power. Most power outages are in the Monta Loma Neighborhood, Rex Manor Neighborhood, Old Mountain View Neighborhood and the North Bay Shore.

The City has been in contact with PG&E representatives and urged them to get the power restored as quickly as possible for our community. PG&E told the City that they are actively working to restore services by replacing the broken power poles, down power lines and transformers throughout Santa Clara County. For power outage updates from PG&E, visit their Outage Center. The City will remain in frequent contact with PG&E as staff closely monitors the power outage situation.

The City of Mountain View has resources available to assist residents and visitors in this time of need. Those without power seeking a place to charge their electronics and access to Wi-Fi on Tuesday, March 21, can visit the following City facilities:

  • Mountain View Public Library (585 Franklin St.) – 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. (All ages)
  • Mountain View Community Center (201 S. Rengstorff Ave.) – 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. (All ages)
  • Mountain View Senior Center (266 Escuela Ave.) – 8:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. (Those 55 and older)

If you or someone you know needs assistance with wires down posing a potential hazard, call 9-1-1. Treat all wires as if they are energized and can shock you.

If you or someone you know needs assistance with a fallen tree, contact the City’s Forestry Division at 650-903-6273. The Forestry Division office is staffed Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please leave a message or call the City’s non-emergency number at 650-903-6344.

The City’s Emergency Operations Center is partially activated to help manage resource requests during the storm. If you or someone you know needs additional assistance as a result of prolonged loss of power, contact the City’s EOC at 650-903-6103. Needs will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and resources will be provided as they are available.
