One man arrested in connection with assault on officer, burglaries; second man arrested as accomplice in burglaries

Post Date:03/24/2022

An East Palo Alto man has been arrested in connection with a January assault on one of our police officers as well as for a string of Mountain View burglaries over the past several months.

On Jan. 28 around 11:15 pm, officers responded to the 200 block of Infinity Way after a caller reported to our dispatch center that they were concerned a car associated with prior burglaries at the location was possibly stealing bikes from a bike locker in an underground parking garage. Patrol officers quickly arrived and attempted to get the possible suspect, who was in the driver’s seat of a Lexus sedan, to speak with them.

However, the driver turned on their car and drove at a high rate of speed out of the garage, nearly hitting one of our responding officers.

Over the course of the next few months, detectives worked to attempt to identify the driver in the vehicle. As they investigated further, they learned that the Lexus that nearly hit our officer was also connected to several burglaries in Mountain View as well as with cases in other jurisdictions.

On March 23 around 4 pm, a detective with our Crime Suppression Unit that was assisting our Crimes Against Persons Unit with follow-up investigation on this case spotted the suspect vehicle on Shoreline Boulevard. The suspect then parked and began to wash his car, which we later learned was stolen out of Cupertino. Detectives attempted to detain the suspect, but he briefly ran away. A short chase ensued, and the suspect was arrested without further incident.

The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Anthony Quach. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, several counts of burglary, vehicle theft, receiving a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest, among other charges. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail and is being held without bail.

On March 24, a second suspect believed to be connected to Quach and the Mountain View burglaries, 26-year-old San Jose resident Ramiro Rosales was also arrested by detectives. He was arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of residential burglary.

Additional follow-up on this case is still being conducted, and as such, we are unable to release further information at this time. We thank you for your understanding to help us protect the integrity of the investigation.
