Teenager arrested in connection with Latham Street robbery

Post Date:04/19/2023 9:16 a.m.
A 17-year-old was arrested in connection with a robbery Monday afternoon.

On April 17 around 11 am, a Mountain View man arranged to meet with a teenager who had previously sold him a pair of fake AirPods. When the pair met on the 1900 block of Latham Street, the victim demanded the seller repay him for the headphones. The seller, however, instead brandished a gun at the victim and threatened him before walking away.

The victim called 9-1-1 and officers were immediately dispatched to the area. A responding patrol officer found the suspect, identified as a 17-year-old-male, in a parking lot on Latham Street. When he attempted to contact the teenager, the teen tried to run away and in the process, threw the gun to the ground. The teen was detained without further incident and subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of what was determined to be a ghost gun.

A ghost gun is a privately made firearm that is unserialized and untraceable.

The victim was not injured. We are not releasing further details on the suspect as he is a juvenile.
