Man arrested in connection with stabbing at Rengstorff Park

Post Date:05/02/2023 10:18 a.m.
A 24-year-old Mountain View man was arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred in the Rengstorff Parking lot late Saturday night.

On April 29 around 10 pm, Mountain View dispatchers received reports of a stabbing near the barbecue pits at Rengstorff Park. Patrol officers immediately responded to the area and found a man suffering from at least one stab wound to the upper torso. The man, identified as a 23-year-old Mountain View resident, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of what was determined to be a non life-threatening wound.

The suspect, identified as Mauricio Ortiz-Albarenga, was on scene when officers arrived and was subsequently detained. In their initial investigation, officers learned that a fight had broken out in the parking lot and that at some point during the altercation, the victim was allegedly stabbed at least once by Ortiz-Albarenga.

Ortiz-Albarenga was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Additional follow up is being conducted in this case and should there be more to share, we will do so.
