Sidewalks will remain open with continued access to all businesses

Mountain View, Calif. — The City of Mountain View is excited to announce the next phase of the Castro Interim Pedestrian Mall project will begin on Monday, Nov. 6. Sidewalks will remain open during construction activities and there will be access to all businesses in Downtown Mountain View. During this time, outdoor dining will be temporarily unavailable.

The 100, 200 and 300 blocks of Castro Street will be upgraded to include the following enhancements:

  • Pavement resurfacing;
  • Intersection striping;
  • Creation of a new central walkway;
  • Power-washing sidewalks and parklets;
  • Cleanup of City furnishings; and
  • Storm drain cleaning.

“These improvements, when completed, will make Downtown Mountain View an even better place to dine, shop and spend time with friends and family,” said Mayor Alison Hicks. “The City is committed to helping our small businesses thrive, and we will be doing all we can to let the community know that Downtown Mountain View is open for business while this work is underway.”

The work will take approximately three weeks to complete depending on weather conditions. Following the completion of the work, outdoor dining and activities will begin again.
