Mountain View’s Annual City Council Reorganization for 2024

Post Date:01/10/2024

At the first regular meeting of the new year on Tuesday, Jan. 9, the City Council elected Pat Showalter as Mayor and Lisa Matichak as Vice Mayor. Mayor Showalter most recently served as Vice Mayor in 2023. She was elected to the Council in 2014, serving until 2018, and was reelected in 2020. Vice Mayor Matichak was elected to the Council in 2016 and reelected in 2020.

Mountain View has a council-manager form of government, in which the Council is the legislative body of the City, setting policy and establishing the City’s overall priorities and direction.

The seven councilmembers are elected at large for four-year terms. Service on the Council is limited to two consecutive full terms. In January of each year, the Council elects one of its members as Mayor and another as Vice Mayor.
