Post Date:04/26/2021 12:38 p.m.

Mountain View detectives are seeking additional witnesses and information on an assault that occurred early Monday morning, leaving one man severely injured.

Around 1:40 am on April 26, officers responded to reports of a fight in the Monte Carlo Night Club, located on the 200 block of Castro Street. Multiple callers reported a 48-year-old man had been hit in the head with an object and had been knocked unconscious, subsequently falling to the ground, and hitting his head again.

Security guards at the club chased a suspect into the rear parking lot of the Monte Carlo and tried to apprehend the man, but the suspect jumped into an light-colored Audi sedan, reversed the car, and hit a second person who had attempted to intervene in the incident. Prior to being hit with the car, the second victim, only identified as a 24-year-old man, was also punched in the face. The suspect drove away from the scene and was not located.

Both victims were taken to area hospitals for immediate treatment. The man who was hit inside the club remains in critical condition, and the condition of the second victim is not known.

We have no suspect information at this time. Please note that we are actively investigating this incident, and as more information becomes available, we will share as we are able.

Mountain View detectives are asking that anyone with any information on the suspect or the incident to please contact Sgt. David Fisher at david.fisher@mountainview.gov.

Media inquiries can be sent to PIO Katie Nelson at policepio@mountainview.gov.
