The youth exchange program offers students who live in the Mountain View Los Altos High School District the opportunity to develop an understanding and experience a different country, culture and people. Since 1976 the MVSC student exchange program has successfully enabled students to experience life in a different culture and make life-long friends in Japan.

Iwata, Japan Student Exchange

• Exchange students are selected by committee through a selection process which includes group interviews, individual interviews and home visits with parents or guardians.
• Selected exchange students will spend approximately 10 days in Iwata with their host student and family. You will experience life in Japan and enjoy typical traditions and customs of a Japanese high school student.
• Your host student will return with you from Japan and spend approximately 10 days in Mountain View with you and your family. You will share your life, family, and favorite activities, with your exchange student.
