This event is free and open to the public. Limited parking is available at the Mountain View Community Center and Senior Center. Walking, biking or public transit to the event is highly encouraged.

Event activities will take place in Rengstorff Park and inside the Mountain View Community Center.

Tree Planting
Greening our future, one tree at a time. Join us for tree planting.

City Council Proclamation
Join Mayor Pat Showalter for a special proclamation as we green our future, one tree at a time.

Earth-Friendly Booths
Explore more than 20 interactive, earth-friendly booths! Vendors include the City of Mountain View’s Sustainability Division, Canopy, and more. The Mountain View Public Library will be on-site with the new all-electric bookmobile and seed library, too! 

Live Music
Enjoy a captivating performance by The Stragglyrs, a Folk Band, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Live Animal Programs
Experience wildlife up close with a program from the Wildlife Education & Rehabilitation Center or explore the fantastic lives of beetles, millipedes, hissing cockroaches, walking sticks, and whip scorpions at the Insect Discovery Lab.

Outdoor Classroom & Hands-On Workshops
Participate in free composting, planting, and craft activities or take part in induction cooking demonstrations! Schedule subject to change.

  • Zero Waste Induction Cooking Demos: 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (Maple Room)
  • Composting Workshop: 12:30-2 p.m. (Maple Room)
  • Eco-Friendly Leaf Art: 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. (Outside)
  • Upcycled Piñata Making: 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. (Outside)
  • Edible Planting Station: 12-12:30 p.m. and 12:30-1 p.m. (Outside)
  • Guided Tree Walk: 12 p.m. (Outside)

Planet Playground
Led by members of the Youth Advisory Committee, this children’s area features a rock climbing wall, recycling games, a tree-hugging station, a photo booth, chalk drawing, and more.

Electric Vehicle Showcase 
Test-drive or ride-along in an electric vehicle, feel the efficiency and learn about MV charging options.

Join the City's Virtual Electric Vehicle 101 Information Session on Saturday April 13.

Passport Adventure
As you explore the diverse activities and experiences throughout the event, collect stamps in your passport to mark your eco-friendly adventure to take home a free giveaway item! While supplies last.

Plant-Based Food
Delight your taste buds with offerings from Oaxacan Kitchen Mobile and The Compassionate Crumb. Starting at 11 a.m., free plant-based food samples will be available to taste, while supplies last.

To reduce the amount of single-use waste, Sparkl Reusables will be used at this event. 

PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

The Earth and Arbor Day Photography Contest submission entry ended on April 10.

 Now, vote for your favorites! Voting for Voter's Choice Favorite will be on the Collaborate Mountain View page from 5:01 p.m. April 10 until 11:59 p.m. April 14. The photo with the most votes in each age group will win Voter's Choice Favorite for that group.

Meta Photo Contest

 

Age groups: K-8th grade, High School, Community Members (18+)

Prizes:
First place winners in each age group win a 1-year America the Beautiful Parks Pass, plus other parks and activity passes! See Rules for details.

Photos on Display: During the event, stop by the Photography Contest Display inside the Community Center to check out the winning photos!
