The Information Technology Department is responsible for deploying, utilizing, and leveraging information technology to enhance productivity and for improving the quality and timeliness of services delivered to the City's residents and businesses. The IT Department implements the City Council’s vision for Citywide technology, embraces best practices, serves as the catalyst for enhanced technology, and establishes technology standards throughout the organization. IT staff are committed to combining leading-edge business strategy and IT knowledge in the development of reliable hardware and software solutions.

The IT Department’s goal is to provide high quality, cost-effective services to both our community and City staff. We work closely with our users to identify and implement solutions that meet our City’s strategic goals and provide enhanced services to our community.

Department Overview

The IT Department is responsible for planning, maintaining, and managing the City's computerized information systems and communications networks. Services include the following:

  • Network infrastructure management
  • Cyber security
  • VoIP phone system
  • Email administration
  • Project management
  • Desktop and help desk support
  • Off-the-shelf application support
  • Server maintenance and operations
  • GIS development and support
  • Vendor management
  • Website development and support

Additionally, the IT Department staff supports various legacy systems, and explores opportunities to deploy updated technology in a variety of areas such as budget transparency, citizen engagement, permit tracking, library, public safety and geographic information systems.

The CIO and members of the department staff are members of the Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MISAC), a professional technology organization that serves to enhance local government services and effectiveness.
