Teen Center Ambassadors Program

This NEW program is designed for enthusiastic teens who want to make a positive impact on their peers and The View Teen Center, all while acquiring valuable skills, enjoyment, and service hours. Ambassadors will be the face of The View, helping to create a welcoming and exciting environment for all members.

Sign up now! The first round of applications are due by Friday, August 9. 

 

What will Teen Ambassadors Do?  Program Requirements: Additional Information:
  • Assist with events and programs
  • Promote The View
  • Offer feedback and suggestions
  • Be a positive role model
  • Teens in grades 6th-12th who are regular members of The View
  • Attend monthly meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month
  • Positive and enthusiastic
  • Reliable and committed to fulfilling program requirements
 
  • A mandatory orientation will be held on August 15 from 5-6:30 p.m.
  • The program term will be one year, with opportunities to re-apply.

 

  


 

Memberships 

The View Teen Center is free to all Mountain View and Los Altos 6th-12th grade students. Click below or visit The View to fill out a membership form. Memberships are required for drop-in and to register for any teen activities. A Teen Center I.D. card will be issued on the teen's first visit.

Membership forms are processed Tuesday-Friday. You will receive a welcome email once we have created your membership.

Please review our facility and program rules, regulations, and code of conduct.  The View Teen Center has a zero-tolerance bullying, discrimination and violence policy. For further information or questions about the contents of this manual, please see a staff member or email us.

The View Teen Center Handbook

The View Teen Center is LGBTQIA+-friendly and a safe space. We are dedicated to providing fun and welcoming spaces and programs for all teens. Some of our inclusive amenities and programs include: gender neutral restrooms, an annual Pride Party, LGBTQIA+ books in our mini-library, and pronouns on our membership form. Do you have ideas on how the center can be more inclusive? Facility Amenities

 Billiards  Video Games Makerspace 
GAME ROOM with a pool table, foosball table, ping pong table, basketball hotshot, and an air hockey table.  VIDEO GAME AREA with two televisions and an Oculus Quest 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS5, PS2, Wii U, and old-school arcade games.   MAKERSPACE with sewing machines, a Circuit, and a variety of arts and crafts supplies.

KITCHEN to offer daily snacks, a snack bar, and cooking classes.    A LOUNGE with comfortable seating, a large screen TV, DVDs, cable TV and streaming services, and board games.   A STUDY ROOM with computers, a mini library, and school supplies.

Multiple OUTDOOR SPACES with a basketball hoop, garden, grass area for relaxing, sports, and socializing.   A large MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM to offer art, yoga, workshops, dodgeball, and more.  A COMMUNITY CLOSET for teens to borrow professional clothing and shoes for interviews, debate tournaments, school presentations, and more.

Do you have a skill that teens would find intriguing?  We welcome passionate individuals to share interests like art, photography, or resume writing. Reach out via email if you'd like to host a workshop or lead an activity!

 

Daily Activities

Daily Activities are led by staff members and range from arts and crafts and sports to snack making and tournaments.

Daily Snack is provided to all drop-in participants, served approximately 1 hour after opening. The View also has a snack bar (cash, bills lower than $10 only). The snack bar carries various items, including chips, instant noodles, Gatorade, sparking water, and more. Everything is $1 or less.

Teen Week: Paint 'n Pasta

On Thursday, May 16 from 5-7 p.m. at The View Teen Center, join in on a night of painting and pasta, where you'll unleash your creativity on canvas, ceramics, and more while savoring pasta and breadsticks. Whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner, this event promises fun, laughter, and delicious food.

➡️ This event is part of Teen Week, a city-wide celebration of teen creativity, intelligence, activism and mental wellness during the week of May 13-17, 2024. Join us for a City Council proclamation, teen-only discounts at local businesses, teen-only activities, teen-led community events, and more, all planned and led by the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC).
