The El Camino Real (ECR)/Castro Protected Intersection and Castro Bikeway Improvement Project will increase the safety and visibility for pedestrians and bicyclists at this key intersection in our city, a high traffic area for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, students from Graham Middle and other nearby schools.

Project Details

The project will provide a protected intersection at El Camino Real and Castro St, a Class II Bike Lane northbound until Yosemite Ave, a Class IV median-protected bikeway southbound from Yosemite Ave to El Camino Real, and a pedestrian refuge island at Yosemite Ave and Castro St.

Funding 

Design and Construction unding is provided via the CIP Reserve and El Camino Public Benefit for a projected project cost of $3,710,000.
