Free Tree Programs

Is your parking strip or yard ready for a new look? The Street Tree Program allows residents to choose an approved street tree to be planted and pruned by City staff. The Arbor Day Tree Giveaway Program provides residents with a free pre-approved tree delivered by City staff to plant anywhere in their yard.

Need help navigating the maze of plant choice, landscape design and irrigation planning? Attend a free online class or watch recorded class presentations. Topics include, but are not limited to, lawn removal, native plants, and efficient irrigation.

Composting and Mulch

Did you know that residents of Mountain View can obtain free compost and mulch from the nearby Smart Station? Learn how to make your own compost at one of Santa Clara County's free composting workshops.
